Into One of Africa’s Last Wild Frontiers

Supporting the Heritage Village Foundation.

This is not a typical safari.

This wilderness expedition is a rare opportunity to step far beyond the tourist trail and experience Namibia in a way very few people ever will. Designed for adventurous travellers, outdoor people, trackers, and those seeking genuine wilderness immersion, this expedition journeys deep into the Kalahari and the remote wilderness of Khaudum National Park.

For twelve unforgettable days we will travel through vast open landscapes, spend time living alongside the Ju|’hoansi San people, learn ancient skills of tracking and survival, and camp beneath some of the darkest skies on Earth.

This is Namibia at its wildest and most authentic.

The Experience

Our journey begins in Windhoek before travelling north through Namibia’s changing landscapes toward the Kalahari. After an overnight stay at Roy’s Rest Camp, we continue deep into Ju|’hoansi territory to Djamta!ae Village, where we will be welcomed into the community.

From here, the expedition changes pace completely.

Accompanied by Ju|’hoansi trackers and guides, we head out of the village and into the bush for a true wilderness immersion. Over several days we will live remotely in the Kalahari, learning skills that have sustained human life here for thousands of years. Tracking wildlife across the sand, reading sign, gathering wild foods, understanding medicinal plants, making fire, and experiencing life around the campfire beneath the stars.

This is not a performance or staged cultural experience. It is time spent learning directly from people whose connection to the land remains profound.

After returning briefly to the village for rest and reflection, we continue into one of the least-visited national parks in Africa: Khaudum National Park.

Remote, rugged, and untamed, Khaudum offers a very different wildlife experience to the more familiar safari parks. There are no crowds here, few vehicles, and minimal infrastructure. Instead, there is silence, vast wilderness, deep sand tracks, and the constant possibility of extraordinary wildlife encounters. Elephant, lion, leopard, wild dog, hyena, antelope, and countless other species move through this ancient landscape largely untouched by modern tourism.

Camping in Khaudum is remote and expeditionary in nature. Days are shaped by the landscape, wildlife movements, and the realities of travelling through true wilderness.

A Different Kind of Journey

There are few places left on Earth where you can still sit beside a fire beneath the stars, listen to ancient stories, follow fresh tracks through the sand at dawn, and feel truly disconnected from the modern world.

This is one of them.
